  1. If you 'Browse Forums' you will find some references to problems with Bailey motorhomes which seem to be design/build faults reported by others on the forum.
  2. We shall continue with long weekends (Fri-Sat-Sun) weather permitting but mostly to destinations we know well and know what to expect when we arrive. In just 2 hours we can be on our favourite quiet beaches in mid Wales . Local folklore dictates ''A change is as good as a rest'' To watch & listen to the waves and beachcombe for seashells on a very quiet beach is the best therapy against Covid I can think of. The tourists are welcome to the hotspots any day.
  3. We have found that the 3 & 4* campsites prove to be quieter and better spaced out especially without specific marked pitches allowing a wider choice where to pitch away from others. Facilities however are still a factor but manageable with the correct precautions. It is difficult to know what is best but recent scientific predictions are the virus will not be clear for 2 years, too long to totally avoid the possible risks I would suggest. The 'R' factor is again rising according to the news and another lockdown a possibility in the future, time to get out and about before it
  4. Despite every effort to remain positive I have to admit that Jayne & I have finally conceded that 2020 is pretty much over with for trips other than our occasional weekends in Wales. On the plus side the MH is gleaming inside and out, just looks good on the drive.
  5. Could it be Tywyn for that Ice Cream?? Famous Ice Cream factory there. That's where we were just outside the town (our 2nd home we call it) We normally park on the Neptune Caravan Park but not accepting tourers this year due to pandemic.
  6. I think the effects of Covid and our changeable weather reflects the lack of activity on the forum. We did manage a long weekend earlier in the month on a campsite in Wales during the hot weather but other plans for August have been put on hold until the current weather improves. Our plans for the France Trip to Saint Tropez on 1st Sept is also cancelled thanks to Covid with the need to wear masks in ever increasing regions throughout France, it was looking positive when plans were made but spikes have changed all that. Our alternatives were either Cornwall or Snowdonia but partner J
  7. Good news all round Jeff, I can definately confirm that bikers are very good business, just get the word out there. Regards
  8. Hi Jeff, I spend a lot of time in Wales with the motorhome but visiting Rhayader & Elan Valley your location could be a good option. Have noted your details for future reference. Early days yet but Electric Hook-up would possibly widen the appeal to many. Good luck with the venture.
  9. You can buy Sat Nav's specific to motorhomes due to size of vehicle but priced accordingly, we use a TomTom Go with Europe Maps installed and have found it more than satisfactory. All the major manufactorers produce similar designs but I do prefer TomTom. Apart from UK we have used our device in Spain & France without concerns.
  10. We are actually going to France on 1st Sept to Saint Tropez, I will ring our chosen site 2 days prior to leaving rather than pre-book. I always have several back-ups whenever we travel and optional destinations. As for Sunelia they may well be in financial difficulties which makes any booking an increased risk, there is more than one way to lose a deposit.
  11. Anyone planning a campsite booking mostly in France be aware that if it is part of the Sunelia Group Parent Company who operate 4&5* sites under a variety of names will ask for a 30% deposit with booking but unlike guarantee's given in the Terms & Conditions should you cancel the booking within the allowed time no amount of E Mails requesting a refund will be forthcoming. I cancelled 27th March and 14 E Mails later including 4 requests by them for the same Bank Details (all supplied) as of current date no refund or even response. Sunelia may be victim of Covid-19 but so are h
  12. I have just entered this item number and it say's no matches found???
  13. Well it looks like we are being allowed out to campsites soon in our motorhomes, providing we stay in England of course if we are intent on the UK. Hopefully Wales will follow suit very soon after. Have made plans for South of France in early September for a couple of weeks but holding back on actual booking until nearer the time. Will be giving the MH a good wash & wax in preperation and re-fitting the scooter rack.
  14. I often wonder about automotive designers, do they actually drive the vehicles they create? I doubt there is a style of vehicle that does not have simple but annoying 'faults' designed to spoil the driving experience, cars especially and as Gordon points out motorhomes are not exempt. I know a few people with Chausson conversions and mostly the feedback is positive but best to follow the golden rule and have a good test drive in whatever your thinking of buying to ensure everything is to your liking.
  15. If it's too good to be true, etc etc etc A bit fishy is an understatement.
  16. Personally Dave I have written off this year so intend to SORN 31st May. I believe we are safer in our own MH on our own pitch but no campsite can guarantee your not at risk until either a vaccine or pandemic declared over. Using facilities provided on site alone is risky, contamination by touch is a reality. We all have to make our own Risk Assesments.

Thanks for the suggestion, will look into Comfort with a few others and see what emerges.

ADAC have decided to no longer offer their Plus Membership to anyone outside of Germany, only those with a German residence. As existing membership become due for renewal the cover will cease. At £90pa for full European & UK Breakdown Cover this will indeed be a sad loss, the search for a reliable cost effective alternative begins all over again for 2021. Any suggestions ???
  19. That was my logic since March David and we may be a little wiser after Sunday's announcement but not hopeful. EU has extended restrictions on ''unnecessary journey's'' to June 15th and I think it will again. The UK as yet is still being very cautious regarding the Lockdown and leisure driving I fear is bottom of the list We can but live in hope
  20. Dave, I don't think driving your MH back to your address would be an issue, it's those heading a distance away from their home that are at risk. You could always ask your local police if it's ok just to be sure. Portugal for you and Spain for me all on hold probably for the rest of this year. Every year we either fly to Lanzarote in Sept or India in Oct and that's not going to happen either, so it's Costa Del Shropshire on Playa Backgarden for us.
  21. Not much happening to report but although I am waiting to hear what Boris has to say to the nation on Sunday I am now seriously considering putting the MH on a SORN rather than waste any more Road Tax just to sit on the drive. Despite talk of easing the Lockdown in a phased manner I think it will be quite some time before worthwhile travel will be allowed and probably just in time for winter. At least it can be re-activated instantly should a miracle occur.
  22. We all know it more expensive to buy from a dealer than a private seller normally but not when things go wrong. Everyone likes to think they are getting a bargain and it's that very factor scammers rely upon, my search goes on for my friend's motorhome
  23. While helping a friend to find them their first motorhome on a limited budget I was amazed how many there are priced only to attract the unwary leading to the inevitable scam. A classic case of ''if its too good to be true it probably is'' Motorhomes half their realistic value mostly sold as Classified Add rather than auction and always on behalf of a ''friend'' or ''family member'.' Bank Transfer up front and not cash on collection. Even a viewing & test drive is no guarantee (and often encouraged) as Doc's and Keys will only be released after payment cleared by which time
  24. Hi Mas, welcome to the Forum. We are all looking forward to getting back on the road again and who knows you may be parked next to one of us one day soon.
  25. Hi Pav, welcome to the site. With such a huge choice of makes and spec's available it is important to understand what exactly you will use the MH for and what you really need inside it for your own comforts. If used mainly in the UK with the occasional trip abroad then a RH Drive makes more sense but general condition inside and out with a Service History is a bonus. I personally would suggest buying from a dealer rather than private, you should get new MOT and limited Warranty for peace of mind. Either way check everything works, Water, Gas, Electrical and if coachbuilt lo
