Motril Campsites (Avoid)

Recommended Posts

We planned a 5 day stay in Motril based on reviews researched online.

2 campsites were chosen both situated very close to Motril's main beach about 100 metres away across a huge public car park.

Both campsites are besides each other, neither holding any advantage over the other.

Campsite Playa Granada was the first to be inspected by avoiding reception and generally walking around the site looking at pitches and facilities.

The pitches were tiny and crammed in amongst low hanging tree's and branches, the general site maintenance was poor and gave a bad impression.

Mostly occupied by tents and occasional small campervan it was soon decided a visit to reception was not required.

Camping Playa de Poniente was next to be inspected. From the outside it looked more promising with international flags flying and quite a smart entrance.

Again avoiding reception a short walk amongst the pitches gave a picture of neglect and very poor grounds maintenance, pitches were average size but full of weeds and tree's/bushes had not been trimmed for probably a very long time. The whole site looked shabby and uninviting.

We stayed a total of 2 hrs in Motril before moving on to Aguilas with a bonus 5 days to use elsewhere.

Often pitches are small so not ideal for larger outfits, but a lack of site maintenance is always a good reason to move on.
